|There will be 43 educational sessions to choose from, covering a wide variety of PT specialty areas including orthopedics, sports, neurology, geriatrics, and pediatrics. The keynote speaker and several presenters in individual sessions will discuss the role of physical therapy in health and wellness beyond acute conditions, including prevention, nutrition and sleep.
The Keynote Luncheon this year will be held Friday, featuring Mike Eisenhart, PT who is an industry leader in prevention and health promotion. Mike will be discussing his professional vision of “Stronger, happier people through better health.” Mike is a passionate presenter, a subject matter expert and regarded as a thought-leader in the areas of prevention and reversal of chronic, socially contagious diseases including musculoskeletal/pain, cardiometabolic, stress/distress as well as the associated costs and burden. The title of his keynote address is: Into the Current – Swimming Upstream.
The NCPTA Business Meeting will be Friday afternoon, immediately following the Keynote Luncheon. This will include updates on Chapter business and discussion of topics important to all members. Be sure to attend to learn about all the behind-the-scenes efforts of the NCPTA Board of Directors, Chapter committees and task forces, Delegates (to the APTA House of Delegates), and many other members' activities that promote the PT profession and connect us to others to work toward achieving APTA's vision of "Transforming society by optimizing movement to improve the human experience." There will be opportunity to discuss current business and to nominate candidates for open leadership positions.
On Friday, there will be two special educational sessions. In the morning we will be welcoming state officials from the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Justice who will be presenting North Carolina’s response to the opioid epidemic. The NCPTA is actively involved in statewide initiatives to reduce opioid use and these state officials will present as well as participate in a panel discussion with physical therapist researchers and clinicians. In the afternoon, there will be a lively presentation about the success of the dry needling lawsuit, the spinal manipulation legislation and a discussion about other potential scope of practice issues facing NCPTA. Leadership from the NCBPTE, the NCPTA’s legal counsel, lobbyist, and past presidents will all be present to dialogue and answer questions.

- Special Interest Groups (SIG) Meetings – The Student SIG will meet Thursday afternoon before the Quiz Bowl. Other SIGs (Orthopedic, Falls Prevention, Early Professional, Pediatrics, Private Practice) will meet Saturday morning

- Scholarship & Loan Committee annual basket raffle to raise funds for the scholarship and loan program
