The Wilmington Convention Center was the site of the 2019 fall conference. 500+ physical therapists, physical therapist assistants and students gathered to participate in a program that included 75 speakers presenting on a variety of specialty practice topics, 41 research posters, inspirational keynote speaker Mike Eisenhart, the quiz bowl and the annual awards ceremony.
There was also a special celebration Friday evening to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the PTA profession. The DJ and the dance floor were buzzing. Congrats to all our fantastic PTA's. Thank you for your passion and dedication! We are #BetterTogether.
Two special educational presentations included representatives from the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Justice discussing the statewide opioid epidemic. A Professional Hot Topic session attracted 150 attendees to hear from the North Carolina Board of Examiners and the attorneys who defended physical therapists in the dry needling lawsuit.
Conference Committee chair, Carla Hill orchestrated a very well-run conference; Michelle Green coordinated a superior educational program; Laura Pietrosimone organized the impressive poster presentations and Emma White facilitated the work of the awards committee.
