CALL FOR RESEARCH POSTER ABSTRACTS

for the

North Carolina Physical Therapy Association

2018 NCPTA Fall Conference

October 18-20, 2018

Greensboro, NC

The North Carolina Physical Therapy Association invites abstracts for research poster presentations at the 2018 NCPTA Fall Conference. This invitation is open to all educators, clinicians, and students. Any topic related to physical therapy is welcome: research, special interest, and case study topics. Abstracts will go through a peer-review process for acceptance.

Student posters will be judged, and student abstracts will be published online with the Journal of Student Physical Therapy Research (www.ptstudentjournal.org) unless otherwise requested from the author. The credential of the first author determines whether this is a student or clinician poster. The first and second authors will receive discounted registration fees – all others will need to pay the normal registration.

Please submit complete abstract with all of the identifying information as outlined below. Only electronic submissions via email in proper format will be considered. 

PRESENTATION TIMES: The poster session is tentatively scheduled for Friday, October 19 from 11:30am – 1:00pm. You will be asked to put your poster up by 8:00am, to allow judges more time to view the posters.

DEADLINE for receipt of abstracts is August 15, 2018 by noon.

NOTIFICATION: Authors will be notified via email by September 1, which will allow time for printing.

FORMAT:

  • The abstract must be typed, single-spaced (12-point font), Word document (No pdfs).

  • Margins must be 1” on all sides, 1 page maximum (including identifying information).
  • The abstract should include: Title in all capital letters, the last names, first initials of 
     the author(s) (no degrees), and the place where the work was completed.
     
  •  On a separate sheet of paper (this can be in the form of a cover letter) or the email
    submission letter,
    please include the following information: Name, Professional
    Affiliation, Professional Status (PT, Academic Rank, Student etc.) mailing address,
    daytime telephone number, and e-mail address for the contact person.

Research Abstracts MUST include:

  1.  Introductory Sentence/Purpose
  2.  Methods
  3.  Results
  4.  Conclusion
  5.  Clinical Relevance

Special Interest Abstracts should include:

  1. Introductory Sentence/Purpose
  2. Description
  3. Summary of Use
  4. Clinical Relevance

 

Case Study Abstracts should include:

  1. Background
  2. Case Description
  3. Outcomes
  4.  Discussion

          Please save your abstract as follows: Last name of first author and year

STUDENT AWARDS:

  • Three student research awards will be given for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Prize.
  • Each recipient will be awarded a monetary prize (1st Prize = $200, 2nd Prize = $100,
    3rd Prize = $50).
  • Selection of awards will be made by a committee comprised of academics and clinicians
    based on quality of the abstract, presentation, and depth of involvement.
  • In order to be considered for a Student Award, applicants must have been a full-time student at a PT or PTA program at the time the project was completed. Submissions from groups of students, or students working with faculty are welcome.
