The North Carolina Physical Therapy Association invites abstracts for research poster presentations at the 2019 NCPTA Fall Conference. This invitation is open to all educators, clinicians, and students. Any topic related to physical therapy is welcome: research, special interest, and case study topics. Abstracts will go through a peer-review process for acceptance.
Student posters will be judged and student abstracts will be published online with the Journal of Student Physical Therapy Research (http://ptstudentjournal.org/)
unless otherwise requested from the author. The credential of the first author determines whether this is a student or clinician poster. All authors attending the conference will need to pay the registration fee (at a minimum, the single-day registration for Friday October 4).
Please submit complete abstract with all of the identifying information as outlined below. Only electronic submissions in proper format will be considered.
PRESENTATION TIMES: The poster session is tentatively scheduled for Friday, October 4 from 9:30–11:30am. You will be asked to put your poster up by 8:00am, to allow judges more time to view the posters.
DEADLINE for receipt of abstracts is noon August 2, 2019.
NOTIFICATION: Authors will be notified via email by September 3, 2019, which will allow time for preparation and printing.
FORMAT: The abstract must be typed, single-spaced (12-point font), Word document (No pdfs). Margins must be 1” on all sides, 1 page maximum (including identifying information). The abstract should include: Title in all capital letters, the last names, first initials of the author(s) (no degrees), and the place where the work was completed. On a separate sheet of paper (this can be in the form of a cover letter) or the email submission letter, please include the following information: Name, Professional Affiliation, Professional Status (PT, Academic Rank, Student etc.) mailing address, daytime telephone number, and e-mail address for the contact person.
Research Abstracts MUST include:
- Introductory Sentence/Purpose
- Clinical Relevance
Case Study Abstracts should include: 1. Background, 2. Case Description, 3. Outcomes, 4. Discussion

STUDENT AWARDS: Three student research awards will be given for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Prize. Each recipient will be awarded a monetary prize (1st Prize = $200, 2nd Prize = $100, 3rd Prize = $50). Selection of awards will be made by a committee comprised of academics and clinicians based on quality of the abstract, presentation, and depth of involvement. In order to be considered for a Student Award, applicants must have been a full-time student at a PT or PTA program at the time the project was completed. Submissions from groups of students, or students working with faculty are welcome.

- Presenters must register for the conference.
